Triple Weave Strip Weaving
2004-2007; triple weave, resist dyeing, stitching; poly & cotton sewing thread, fiber-reactive dye, rayon thread; 78"H X 28.5"W (including fringe). This piece was begun in Peggy Osterkamp's weaving course at City College of San Francisco. Some areas are woven in poly thread, others in cotton thread, and others in both poly/cotton. The piece is pleated in a smocking pleater and dyed in fiber-reactive dye. The dye adheres to only the cotton. (Check out this explanation on my blog for more details.) Thanks to Peggy for teaching me multiple-layer weaving. All photos by Charr Crail.
